    Young Kids and Android Devices

For those who have young children in their lives: do you allow the kid(s) to play with your Android tablet/phone? I have a nephew who is about 6 - he loves Angry Birds and is the most conscientious child I have ever met, so I have no qualms about letting him play with it. My nieces are both around the 3/4 mark, but neither is very careful with...well, with anything. This may be an age thing. I let them flip the pages of the storybook app while I hold the phone, but that's about it. What about you?

My rule of thumb when it comes to kids is that anything worth over $100 has no chance of getting into their hands. Kids don't understand the value of "that shiny new toy mommy got" so I wouldn't trust them not to, say, throw it. Not that this would be their fault. But I like to keep my expensive devices in one piece Maybe this is just because I don't have kids (and don't much care for other people's kids).

I don't have children yet, but I don't think I would let little ones play with expensive gadgets. Perhaps I would allow a 6-year-old to play games on a cheap tablet, but I would be quite worried to let an expensive Android device such as a smartphone or a Motorola Xoom on the hands of preteens...

My son is about 6 months old and he loves to grab at my phone. Sometimes he gets it without me realizing it, but for the most part I keep him away from it. He's at that age where everything goes into his mouth.

I watch kids for a living and they use my phone to take pictures, play games and read books. To be honest I am pretty clumsy so they are probably better to my phone than I am.
