    Waterproof and/or Rugged Android Phones

I'm looking to get a smartphone for a family member, but he's well known for man handling them, so I need something that is rugged and maybe even waterproof. What are my options?

The Sony Xperia Z is waterproof and dustproof. Check this review of the phone. Sony Xperia Z review | Phone Reviews | TechRadar

I found three phones through CNET's website that are supposed to be rugged, although I didn't see anything about any of them being waterproof. The first one is the Motorola i1 though Boost Mobile; the second one is the Motorola Defy through T-Mobile, and the third one is the Casio G'z0ne Commando through Verizon Wireless.

Bookworm - I haven't heard anything about either of those Motorola phones, however I have heard some good things about the Casio through Verizon. A friend of a friend bought this phone and swears by its durability. He works in construction, so he's pretty rough with his phones too.

The Kyocera Hydro android model is a waterproof phone. I would check what models the carrier you are going through have to offer. I also would check on ebay and/or craigslist for people selling their phones cheap.

I recommend the Galaxy Xcover. It is a great phone and you can look up for it on youtube and see a lot of tests that it passed with no problems at all ( dirt, dust, water, drops )
