    Froyo most popular

Unless something has drastically changed in the last couple of months, Froyo is top dog among the Android operating systems. According to what I've read, Froyo is used on over half of all Android devices. So, have the Gingerbread, Honeycomb, and Ice Cream Sandwich operating systems simply not had a chance to catch up? Or is there something special about Froyo?

Gingerbread needs more time to roll out. Froyo comes with the great advantage of coming pre-installed on a lot of phone that were sold during android fast growth spur. Now Gingerbread, Ice Cream, & Honey comb our coming in pre-installed. So it'll change.

Yup, I think that whenever the next Android growth spurt happens, one of the other OS's will be the most popular. It just depends on what's being included pn the phones people buy.

I think you're both right. Froyo was released at the right time. And it seems like the subsequent operating systems have been released so quickly that none have had a chance to make a name for themselves.

It's got to be whatever is installed already in the phone when you get it - that would make them the most popular. I did not even know what my phone came with. I looked once I joined this forum.

While Froyo may decrease in popularity in the next year, I have a feeling that Ice Cream Sandwich will take its place. It's the latest and the best update so far, and I think that companies will try to include it in most phones to compete with Windows Phone 8 (which is also released next year) and iOS 6 (which is rumored to come at the end of 2012)...

From all of the talk and anticipation for Ice Cream Sandwich, I seriously doubt that Froyo is going to continue to be as popular. They may have to step up to stay in the game.

The Froyo OS is still the most popular. I have seen phones for sale with Gingerbread, but not as many as phones that run on Froyo.
