    Sync: on or off?

Do you think it's a good idea to have your sync on all the time? I heard it consumes the battery a lot but on the other hand it's very comfortable. Do you have it on or off?

I leave mine off and turn on when I want to see if there's anything fun or important.

I leave mine off unless I have a specific need for it. I try not to run anything on my phone "all the time", because apps/features that run 24/7 drain the battery.

What is the sync? I don't turn it off if I even have it (since I don't know what it is). I turn off the GPS when I am not using it. I swear that takes a lot of battery.

Sync keeps you in contact with your email accounts so you get instant notifications of emails etc

But it will do that as soon as you turn sync if set for off anyway.

I have heard that GPS uses lots if battery also -mine is mostly off.

Oh my, I get notifications about emails but I have no idea if synch is on or off. Like the other poster I have never even heard of it. How can I find it on my phone and check if it is on or off? What are the benefits of having it on?

Depends on how much data you have available to you, i leave mine on to get important emails constantly. Also all up sync data with google chrome and google plus gets updated at the same time

I never use the sync function as it's annoying at times. I don't need too much notifications on my phone other than texts, calls, and calendar events. I can connect to the internet any time anyway so I can check emails when I want to.

You can leave it on, and just increase the app-specific polling interval as per your need for the frequency of updation, if you are concerned about battery life

I leave mine on. It does use data and eat up some battery life, but one of the main reasons I have a smartphone is to be notified if I have a new email or something instead of having to keep checking. The only time I shut it off is if battery life is really important, like when I am out on a long hike and know I won't have access to a power source for hours.

I leave sync on all the time.
Yes infact it DOES use more power when sync is turned on, but that's why I carry a spare battery with me.
It's vital for me to be in constant email contact.

For me it's on when I'm at home or at work and off when I'm in the street or anywhere else but home or work.
It just kills my battery if I have it on for a long time, it's so frustrating. And also consumes data which for me is very expensive as I don't have an unlimited plan.
When my battery can last as long as my old nokias I will let my sync stay on.
This battery hunt drives me crazy.

How much faster does leaving sync on eat up batteries? I want to be notified of emails but not if I can only have the phone on for a few hours or something without charging.
