What is a good camera for a phone ?

Some say 3 Mpixels are enough, some want more. i for one have 5 on my phone and am very pleased with it. What do you consider to be a good camera for a phone ?

Well, mine has 8 but I think it's a bit too much for a phone. I mean, a phone will never be able to do all the cool things a DSLR will so I don't even use my phone cam.

I have 8 but I beg to differ on the features. I can take a panoramic shot on my phone that rivals any I have taken with my DSLR. I think that the newer phones are getting much more sophisticated when it comes to the camera features.

Hmm, for me I'd say an 8 px. camera is OK, but that's because I take a lot of pics with my phone. My friends all have fancy cameras but I don't need one since my phone is good enough.

I want 5 MP as a bare minimum, however I would really prefer 8 MP, which is what most of the high-end phones have right now. However, I saw a phone the other day (although I can't remember the specific model) that has a 12 MP camera!

Blair - I think the Nokia N8 and the Sony XPERIA both have 12 meg cameras.

To the OP - I think 3 megs is okay for a camera phone if you don't want to do anything more with the photos than upload them to Facebook or an online album. If you want to print the pictures, I'd prefer to have a phone with a 5 or 8 meg camera.

My phone - the myTouchQ from T-Mobile - has a 5 MP camera and I'm fine with that. If I were to buy a new phone or upgrade, I would want at least 5 MP on my next phone, too.
