    Ringtones

Where do you all get your ringtones? Do you buy them from somewhere? Make them yourself? Are there any good sites where you can download ringtones for free that won't send you viruses as well?

I do not have many ringtones but the few that I have are those that I purchased. The idea that my phone could get infected has made me stay away from downloading for a long time.

I buy them from Verizon - I don't want any "bug" on my phone so I don't download anything from anywhere other than Verizon (my cell phone carrier). I just don't trust those "free downloads".

I totally agree about the so-called free downloads. It just isn't worth it whether it's your phone or your laptop. If I'm not mistaken, a virus can be embedded from outside of the website. So, even if it's a trusted site, you're really not that safe unless it's your carrier.

That is exactly my thought too Grace. You can use a safe website but still get a virus. There is no way I'm taking that chance with my Bionic. I also download music and make them my ringtones... That is not from any website though.

Anything free has something attached to it. Why would someone make something then let people get it for free? I once had my phone get infected through these and that was the end of it.

That's not true. There are plenty of free things online (sponsored by rich and generous people), Wikipedia being the best example.

As for the music, there are sites that offer free songs, sounds and ringtones for different promotional purposes. Some of my ringtones I have purchased, but I have a lot of free ringtones too on my cell phone.

I mostly purchase them from various sites (lately, from Ringtonejukebox). I used to do a lot of searching for free ringtones, but - you know how it is - the cool ones are not usually free, so I decided that I'm willing to spend a few dollars on paid websites...
