    Amazon and Android

It's interesting that Amazon is being so low-key about the Kindle Fire operating with an Android version. Do you think it's a branding issue? Maybe they think the name "Android" would overshadow all things Amazon.

It's possible, or maybe they think that people who would buy the Amazon Fire wouldn't necessarily know what Android is? Or that people associate Android with phones, so telling them a tablet can run Android too would be confusing?

I did not know that any Amazon product was actually a Android. That could be why they are keeping it quiet - to keep the focus on Amazon. I'm really interested in the fire now. What exactly is it?

Well, when a phone's got Android on it, it's marketed as an "Android phone." So I do think that Amazon wants to keep the emphasis on Amazon and not Android-- that way the Fire isn't an "Android tablet" but an "Amazon tablet."

I agree with Mawdryn. How is it Android lets Amazon get away with keeping the Android platform unadvertised, though? Suddenly it makes sense why the Kindle app is available for free on Android phones.
