Is Google working on another OS?

I was reading some time ago on Wikipedia that Microsoft is currently working on another operating system called Midori. I don't know whether it's just a rumor, but they say Windows will be replaced by another Microsoft OS in the next decade.

It got me thinking whether Google might want to do the same thing, namely develop an operating system other than Android. Or will Google just stick to improving the Android versions?

Not having seen Midori or even heard of it until just now, I can't imagine that it would be much of anything but an upgrade to Windows. It would be too difficult to completely replace Windows since pretty much every computer (except those pesky Macs) runs on it. I think Google should stick to improving Android at least for the time being since it is a fairly new OS.

Uhm... I think you forgot about Linux. There are quite a lot of people who use Linux (which has several versions) on their computers.

As far as Google is concerned, I wish they would focus on the Chrome OS development a little bit more and have some more chromebooks out. Other hardware companies should be interested in a partnership with Google, not just Samsung. I'd love to see Dell and Asus release their own chromebooks. Just my two cents...
