    Pre-Rooted Phones/Tablets

Before I purchased my tablet (cheapo Tagital 7" Allwinner A13 4GB), I read a fair bit about rooting and some of the advantages gained by it. I forget exactly what I got into on it as I was initially setting it up, but it was something that supposedly required rooting before being able to access. I'd also read that some devices (especially the cheaper ones) come pre-rooted, so I'm wondering if that's not the case with mine. Does anyone here have any experience with pre-rooted devices, and how can I tell for sure if mine is?

Wow, I never even knew that there were such things as pre-rooted phones/tablets. They must not come from the big manufacturers and companies like LG, Samsung, etc.
I personally don't trust those devices, you never know what software/mods they pre-installed onto it. I recommend rooting a device on your own. There are plenty of tutorials out there.

I don't have any experience with pre-rooted devices. Like JB, I didn't even know that certain devices come that way. Doesn't really sound legit to me, honestly. Doesn't it void the warranty?

In the case of this tablet, beyond Amazon's guarantee against DOA devices, I don't believe that there is a warranty. As I said, this is a very cheapo tablet. I don't see anything strange in the settings or installed in the apps or anything like that. My guess is that they figure, as cheap as they are, people are going to root them anyways, so why spend the time to lock the system down?
I may try to go with another ICS ROM at some point if I can find one that would run a bit better.
